Honesty

Wednesday August 7, 2013

I was leading a workshop the other day and assertiveness skills was raised by the group. One person bravely spoke up and said that she believed that she is usually more aggressive than assertive, and that she knew this is the area she needs to work on.

Her openness stimulated an immediate response from a colleague who said she had noticed the results of her shifting from aggression to assertiveness. The first speaker was very moved to receive this feedback – by being brave she had opened the door for others to say things and was rewarded by the feedback.

Courage and honesty are powerful positive ingredients to bring to our own lives and to our conversations with others.
