Enthusiasm and Persistence
I am wondering about the importance of enthusiasm in the workplace.
As Goethe has said:
“In the realm of ideas everything depends on enthusiasm… in the real world all rests on perseverance.”
I have seen the strength of enthusiasm in teams – that kick of positivity and the will to move on, the ‘yes’ disposition – these can be very helpful to maintaining momentum and motivation.
When you have a team member who is enthusiastic about work, that energy can rub off onto others. I don’t mean false positivity, but a genuine love of being part of the work.
Goethe’s idea of connecting enthusiasm with perseverance, brings the energy into the practical – changing ideas into real outcomes.
I think he was onto something.
